FAQs (Please Read So We Can All Stay Friends)
Enrichment Center
Are there buffers between appointments, and when should I arrive?
Appointments include a 15-minute buffer so dogs don’t accidentally and awkwardly meet like it’s a middle school dance. Please don’t arrive more than 5 minutes early. If another car is in the lot, hang tight until they leave.
How should I handle arriving and leaving when other clients are present?
Please be mindful of other clients and dogs. Many dogs who use the center are reactive.
Does my dog really have to be on leash coming and going?
Yes. Always. No exceptions. Leashes stay on until you’re inside and secure.
Can dogs say hi in the parking lot?
Nope. No greetings. Not even “just a quick one.” We’re here for a peaceful parallel existence.
Can I bring a friend’s dog for a playdate?
Only dogs from your household are allowed. My insurance says “absolutely not” to mixed-household playdates.
What if my dog has to potty?
There is no poop fairy. Please potty your dog outside, being sure to dispose of solid waste in the bin, before your session. If an accident happens inside, clean it right away with the supplies on the table and toss solid waste in the outside bin.
Are there cameras in the building?
Yes. Inside and outside. Please do not touch, adjust, unplug, or “experiment” with them.
Do I need to lock the door?
Yes, please! Keep it locked during your session and lock up when you leave.
Can I use the equipment?
Absolutely. Use whatever you’d like. Just put everything back where you found it before you leave. Future you will appreciate this.
What if something breaks?
If you or your dog damage something, please email me ASAP. Stuff happens. Silence makes it worse.
Why is punctuality important?
Arriving and leaving on time keeps everyone from accidentally meeting and keeps the schedule running smoothly. Be cool. Be prompt.
What if the room is a mess when I arrive?
If you find accidents, messes, or equipment chaos, please accept my apologies and email me immediately so I can address it with the user before you.
Why is there sometimes dog hair?
Hair happens. The room is professionally cleaned at the end of each day, but you may see some leftover magical fibers from earlier guests. This is a dog place. It comes with the territory.
Are certain leashes or collars not allowed?
Yes. No Flexi/retractable leashes. No choke collars. No prong collars.
What’s the cancellation policy?
Cancellations or transfers made less than 72 hours before your appointment are non-refundable. Life happens, but so does scheduling.
General/Classes
Which class should I register for?
If your dog is 16 weeks or older and you have not taken a class with me before I require you start with a Brilliant Basics class with me, even if you’ve taken basics or more with another trainer. My classes are unique in that they cover a lot of learning theory and take a games based approach, so the foundations covered in my Brilliant Basics class are needed before moving into an Intermediate class.
I do not require a Brilliant Basics class before taking a FUN-gility, Tricks!, or Noseworks class.
If your dog is under 16 weeks you must start with my Puppy Academy class.
What if I can’t make all of the classes in the session?
No worries! I rarely have a session of classes where everyone can attend all of the classes. The beauty of my virtual classes is that they are recorded with all participants receiving the recording after class. If you are enrolled in an in person class, weekly missions (when applicable) will be emailed out after class. Since my classes all tend to fill, there is not usually an opportunity to “make up” a missed class.
What’s your cancellation policy?
I require 10 days notice before the class start date for cancellations/transfers. After that, your registration fee is non-refundable or transferable. All refunds will incur a $10 fee!
Can my reactive dog attend class?
It depends on the class! All virtual classes are appropriate for reactive dogs. My FUN-gility and Noseworks classes can also be appropriate for reactive dogs since dogs get to work the room one at a time, however, reactive dogs must be able to come and go from the building to the parking area with other dogs present. If you aren’t sure if your dog will be OK for one of these classes please reach out to Sara directly HERE. All other in person classes are not appropriate for reactive dogs.
*Please note that none of my group classes dress reactivity directly. If you wish to learn how to help your dog with their reactivity please become a member of my Regulated Rover community HERE
